About John F. McDonald, Jr.

John F. McDonald, Jr. has proven himself as a creative and effective leader and manager in every venture in which he has participated. Mr. McDonald founded the Quincy Community Theatre in 1983, and served as its President. He was the Executive Producer and Director of many critically acclaimed events including three yearly major musical productions, a special celebrity concert series and a children’s theatre series. Recent productions have included, An Evening with Jennifer Holiday, Robbie O’Connell and the Clancy Brothers and a local television celebrity production of Love Letters.

Mr. McDonald has also produced events in conjunction with the City of Quincy, Massachusetts at the Quincy Promenade and has served as an officer on the annual Blues Festival Committee. Through his production company, JM Productions, Mr. McDonald was responsible for organizing a series of weekday concerts for the Promenade that included jazz, Dixieland, big band, Broadway and new age performances. Mr. McDonald is the creator of The Quincy Cultural Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the City’s first multi million dollar cultural community arts center.

Mr. McDonald also has a diverse background in various fields of entertainment, event planning and modeling, including positions as personal assistant to Click Model Management President Frances Grill at Carnegie Hall New York as well as super model and actress Isabella Rossellini and Academy award winning actresses Faye Dunaway and Marisa Tomei. He has also assisted super personality Lauren Bacall as well as actresses Julie Harris, Parker Posey & author Elaine May. Mr. McDonald has assisted actors Charles Durning, Matthew Broderick and Alan Arkin. Mr. McDonald has Broadway and off Broadway credits.

Mr. McDonald has held many faculty and administration positions in elementary, middle and high schools. Mr. McDonald has held various positions in the theatre district of Boston, MA including but not limited to usher, stage door person, phone operator, dresser, productions assistant and assistant house manager at the Wilbur Theatre, Schubert Theatre, The Wang Center's Wang Theatre, Colonial Theatre and The Opera House in Boston, MA.
