JM Productions, Entertainment Producer of Quincy, MA is pleased to announce the casts of “Superwoman … a Musical Revue” & “A Taste of Broadway” have been chosen to be the opening acts for “Souled Out”…A Motown show live at Harborfest July 3rd at 6 pm. This free concert will be held at City Hall Plaza near Government Center as part of the annual Boston Harborfest. Joining these three talented groups on the stage will be Brendan Ryan of Braintree, MA.

The event is 6 pm - 9:30 pm with a Rain date of Sunday, July 5 at 6pm on North Stage, City Hall Plaza (617-227-1528)

Souled out

Souled Out is a musical ensemble that specializes in the great Motown and Soul sounds. Featuring a three-piece vocal section, the group weaves its way through the Motown and 70’s Soul eras. Inspired by the music of the Temptations, the Four Tops. Stevie Wonder, the Spinners, the O’Jays and more, “Souled Out” brings the memorable music of those groups to the stage in a spirited, stylish and fun show that delivers with each performance. Fueled by a love for the music and backed by a superb band, “Souled Out” is the ultimate in musical nostalgia, entertaining in a way that both wows audiences and captures their hearts all over again.

Superwoman

“Superwoman … a Musical Revue” ~ Five talented women, present selections from “Superwoman … a Musical Revue”! Our superwomen hail from the Boston area and have performed on local, New York, national and international stages. Conceived and directed by John F. McDonald, Jr. with Paul Kelly as Music Director, “Superwoman … a Musical Revue” is a bright and enthusiastic revue featuring songs portraying women of all ages and types in a wide variety of situations and relationships with insight, empathy and self-deprecating humor.  It is rich in variety and consistently high quality music with a strong cast of female singers. 

Cheri Kelly (of Braintree, MA) a graduate of the Boston Conservatory with a BFA in musical theatre. Cheri has tapped her toes as Peggy Sawyer in both national and European tours of 42nd Street, and with Savion Glover in "The New Tap Generation - A Night of Tap" at the Apollo Theatre, the Strand Theatre and the Boston Opera House. 

Kathy Teevens Fitzpatrick (of Quincy, MA) is a graduate of Suffolk University and received her RN from Laboure College. Kathy whose “superpowers” include a dynamite voice and sparkling smile, has starred locally in several JM Productions including Nunsense, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and the widely popular, What Christmas Means to Me.  She has performed her own and has guest starred in several cabaret shows in the Quincy area. Kathy is a long-standing performer at the Café on the Common at The Common Market in Quincy, MA.

Marybeth Kelly (of Braintree, MA) is a graduate of Fairfield University. She began her professional career when she was chosen to perform at Opryland USA, in The Country Christmas Show & on the General Jackson Showboat. She is also a Red Sox Nation fan favorite who has performed The National Anthem at Fenway Park several times. Locally, Marybeth honed her triple threat skills at the Common Market in West Quincy, where she was in the original cast of the Café singers and in various JM Productions including “Godspell”, “A Chorus Line” and playing Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors”.

Sue Susi (of Halifax, MA) is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory for Musical Theater is a musical powerhouse! She has played classical piano since the age of five and has perfect pitch.  Sue performed on the American Hawaii Cruise Line in several shows and has brought her directorial talents to Babson College, the Maynard and Danvers public school systems and the Concord Children’s Theatre.   Sue has held leading and supporting roles in “Edwin Drood”, “Into the Woods”, “Carousel” and “My Fair Lady”.

Kirsten Hughes (of Quincy, MA) received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.  She began her career starring as “Ariel” in Disney’s Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Orlando, Florida. Eventually, she formed her own band, Velvet Krush, which hit the Boston music scene and became an instant success. Working with the band at night, and performing in award-winning, local and national radio commercials during the day gave her the opportunity to move back to New York where she appeared in the Off-Broadway comedy, Teen Thriller. In New York, she has sung on various CD’s, and performed in several New York City nightclubs.

“A Taste of Broadway ” ~ Five local high school students who are our “Rising Stars” will also be performing “A Taste of Broadway ” All the students have been taught by Broadway professionals and are performing the best of Broadway.  “A Taste of Broadway ” is dedicated to all kids who dream to “make it” in the entertainment business. Some will make it, some won’t but each will give it their all as theysearch for their right path. One or more of our students may “make it” and YOU can say YOU saw them on stage right here in Boston, MA.

Meghan Ryan (of Braintree, MA) has been performing since she was in second grade. She has worked in JM Productions for performances such as Peter Pan and Charlie Brown. Some other favorite performances include Honk! The Pajama Game, Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables, Annie, and Grease.  Meghan is also in Braintree High School’s Concert Choir and Show Choir. She took dance from Total Attraction Dance Studios for two years.  Meghan also performed with the Boston Pops last May as the runner up in The Boston Pops High School Sing Off. Meghan is so happy that she gets to be in another JM Production.

Michael Ryan (of Braintree, MA) was a senior this past year at Braintree High School. He is 18 years old and has been performing since the 2nd grade. Over the years Michael has appeared in over 30 shows, favorites including Fiddler on the Roof, The Pajama Game, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Peter Pan and his most recent performance as Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Besides musical theater Michael has performed in his school concert choir, show choir, The Massachusetts Southeastern District Chorus, and The Massachusetts All State Chorus for the last four years. Michael also performed with the Boston Pops last May as the runner up in The Boston Pops High School Sing Off. He was a runner up in the nation wide “Macy’s Win a Trip to the Tony’s Sing Off”, and a winner of the “A Chorus Line Be The One” contest. Michael also loves to direct, with past shows including Aladdin Jr., Grease Jr, Seussical and Oliver at JM Productions, Children’s Corner. Michael is off to Pace University in NYC this fall.

Megan Croake (of Quincy, MA) was a 17-year-old senior at North Quincy High School this past year. Megan has been performing since she was in first grade. Some of her favorite performances include Guys and Dolls, Godspell, Honk! and The Music Man. She was also a two-year member of North Quincy Concert Choir and a member of North Quincy’s women’s acappella group and North Quincy’s select choir, in which entry is based on an audition. In her junior year she was a member of North Quincy’s Renaissance program as a voice major.  Megan is off to UMass, Dartmouth this fall to study nursing.

Jackie McAllister (of Quincy, MA) was a 17-year-old senior at North Quincy High School this past year. She was involved in Pride Committee, Peer Leadership and choir at school. She was also part of the Renaissance program at North. Her discipline in the program was voice. Most recently she performed in Guys and Dolls. Some of her favorite shows, that she took part in were Godspell, Honk and Peter Pan.  Jackie will major in communications at Bridgewater State College this fall.

Daniel Whooley (of Quincy, MA) age 16 is a junior at North Quincy High School and has been in a number of shows since he was a small child. Danny has starred in many school productions, such as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, and Danny Zuko in Grease. He has also participated in many other shows, such as Fiddler on the Roof and Rising Stars a Quincy summer Broadway camp. Daniel has been a part of many theater programs, including Children’s Corner and Raise the Curtain.

Brendan Ryan (of Braintree, MA) is a nineteen-year-old singer/songwriter from Braintree, MA. Leveraging his range of influences from The Beatles and James Taylor to Ben Folds, Jason Mraz and John Mayer (to name a few), Brendan’s act is a blend of acoustic pop/rock originals and covers. Throughout his years of playing, Brendan has played many shows and recorded many songs including his newly released “Compilation of You EP” featured on iTunes.
           
Publicly performing his music for several years, Brendan has gained considerable stage experience in the Boston area. Throughout his high school career Brendan performed in well-known venues such as The Middle East (upstairs), The Middle East (downstairs), and Axis nightclub. His music has won various performance opportunities including Seventeen Magazine fashion shows and airplay of some of his original music on the Top Thirty Countdown with Billy Costa on Kiss 108 FM. Recently, Brendan along with his brother Michael, were the featured artists for the opening ceremony led by Mayor Thomas Menino for the farmers market at The Rose Kennedy Greenway at Dewey Square in Boston. Now a student at UMASS Amherst, Brendan continues to play music wherever/whenever he can.
